-
September 15, 2023 - April 15, 2024
8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Every year we select around 7 CITs for the next season. Our CIT program is for youth who are at least twelve, and ready to move into more of a leadership position at camp and be a mentor for children/youth who come after them. To qualify your youth should be 12 years old. They need to be able to be in control of themselves, since a lot will be expected of them throughout the week.
The expectations are:
- You must be willing to work with a team in a team setting and take direction from lead counselors.
- You must have some abiltiy and desire to socialize with a group of children and play games with them.
- You must be able to model appropriate/respectful behavior and bike skills for younger children.
- You must be willing and able to work any camp, from Learn to Ride to Hard Gears (and not make requests). In fact, we only allow second or third year CITs to volunteer at our Hard Gears camps.
Main responsibilities: Playing games with campers, socializing with campers, suggesting and setting up drills based on the needs of our campers. Supporting the safety of the group while on rides.
Program guidelines: Each CIT must commit to being present for a fall light mechanical workshop and a spring ride training and orientation (where we talk about expectations for camp season). If they cannot attend both trainings, they will not have completed the program and won’t be eligible to CIT with camp. We will try to schedule both of these trainings in the fall, so that your family can plan around your youth being at the training.
